Mixing a Statement Piece with Basics
I have been trying to mix some brighter colors into my wardrobe lately and when I found this purple blazer at Nordstrom, I just couldn’t pass it up! I consider this blazer to be a statement piece i.e., something that is noticeable when you wear it and makes an impression. What’s nice about this blazer though, is that it’s super easy to mix with basics that you already have in your wardrobe. So even though it’s just one piece, you feel like you’re wearing a whole new outfit, without actually having to buy an entire outfit.
This blazer is a little bit more casual and it’s sort of oversized and boxy. So to balance it out I paired with slim black pants, a mock-neck black top and my favorite pair of black high heeled pumps.
It also comes in a whole bunch of different colors. I provided two different links below. The purple one links to colors that are $75 and the red one (my second favorite!) links to colors that are on sale for $45 (yay!)
One of the challenges that I have with bright colors sometimes is that I don’t want them to be too loud or distracting in the work place. But I think that a happy medium can be reached by pairing one bright or colorful piece (like this one) with neutrals (black, tan, navy, cream, white). It’s a nice change from the typical darker or neutral colors that make up the majority of my work wardrobe!
